How much would it cost to paint a Nissan?

How much would it cost me to paint a 2002 Nissan Altima black. It has over 180000 miles on it and is in decent condition. It's a small 4 door sedan|||Mileage has nothing to do with it. If the origanal paint is flaking due to weather. The paint must be completely removed. This is done with chemicals. Stripping the old paint off, cost about $300.00. Reprimed. And repainted. If not. Then, over a period of time, the bad paint will eventually damage the New Paint job. The whole process will cost anywhere from $900.00 to $1,300.00. Depending on the Quality of the Paint Job that you want. Best to get an estimate from two or three Body Shops. I know! Been there and done that.|||A proper color change with sanding and body work good prep will be thousands of dollars. Black shiny cars show all body damage and if you want black pay the money to get the good job done. Cheap Painters can do a lousy job around 250 to 300 dollars. It may not be worth spending that much on a 10 model year old car.

Is it possible to install a rearview camera or a dashboard on a leased nissan altima?

Is it possible to install the rearview camera without to much damage into the car or none at all. How much might this cost as well?|||I don't know much about aftermarket installations, but I have seen vehicles with small screens built into the radio. Some have larger screens that fold/ retract into radio slot. I believe you can hook a rear view camera to display on those. As for the sensor/ sensors I don't know if they can be installed "temporarily" I believe they would need to remain permanent. Again, I don't know much about it, just know what I've seen come through the shop...

-holds its value better

-put together better - higher quality materials

-better motor, unless the Ford has a V8

-better looks

-better off road if needed - better handler on road

-the whole Firestone Fiasco w/ Explorers

To be fair, the Ford has some advantages:

-cheaper to repair

-plenty of parts

-same model year cheaper vs pathfinder

-better straight line/highway ride

-roomier

-V8 offered

-more towing capacity|||1200 hits in YA for Ford explorer.

201 for Nissan Pathfinder.

Less problems with Nissan appearantly.|||Ha Haaa. Nissan pathfinder will never be better than a Ford Explorer|||I think they are about the same. The Pathfinder may hold it's value better. But, if you buy a used vehicle, you may save a few dollare by buying a Ford.|||Japanese or American, go figure.|||Honestly I don't think either of those are particularly stellar choices in the midsize SUV market. The pathfinder probably is the better of the two though, much less likely to flip on its roof if you lose a tire for example. The explorer I do believe has a size advantage though. I'd look at a Toyota 4runner though, same general type of truck, better reliability.

What does the option button on my automatic car keys do for my 1992 nissan maxima?

I just got a 1992 nissan maxima and there are three buttons. Lock, unlock, and the option button. But i can't seem to figure out what the option button does.|||On most car keys if there are more than 2 buttons the 3rd one is usually an auxillery button. If you bought the car and the button you press doesn't open or turn on or start anything than, more than likely the option button has not been programmed to anything. It can be programmed to open the trunk, start the car, roll the windows up if you have power windows. If there is no panic button it might be that. The panic button is for when your in danger just push hold the button for 3-5 secs and the alarm or horn starts beeping. If not, I would go to your local nissan dealer and inquire about it.

I hope this helps you out a little bit.|||It can be programmed to unlock the truck, turn the interior light on if not all ready programmed for that. It can be programmed to open the garage door open if you have a opener. It could be programmed for a remote start if you have that installed

How to replace instrument panel lights on 2001 Nissan Pathfinder?

How much torque should be applied to the flex plate bolts on a 1988 Nissan Sentra?

My 1988 Nissan Sentra keeps breaking flex plates. What could be causing this? I have a new flex plate, torque converter and transmission I am installing in the car in the hopes that this will resolve the issue. But I need to know how much torque i should use installing the flex plate%26gt;|||Buy a manual or ask a garage that has a manual for the torque specs. If it keeps breaking the flex plate my best guess is you are missing a dowel pin that locates the engine/trans assembly at true center. You may have one pin missing, or both. Without one or both pins the crankshaft and torque converter are not in perfect alignment causing the plate to fail. Did the old converter have a trashed bushing in the hub? If the bushing was severely worn, or the stator on the trans shows significant wear you are probably missing a dowel pin. If the engine was changed make sure there is no pilot bearing/bushing from a standard trans in the back of the crankshaft.

How do I use the navigation in a Nissan Murano?

I have a NIssan Murano as a courtesy car for the next few days. It has navigation, but I cannot figure out how to use it. If I touch the screen nothing happens and I can't get it to the navigation menu. It just stays on radio. Does anyone have this vehicle or know how to use it?|||You have to make sure that the vehicle really does come with Navigation because ALL Muranos come standard with a 7" screen. If it is all orange L.E.D's, then you DONT have Navigation.

If you have a color screen, then you might possibly have a new Murano with or without Navigation.

The only way to tell if you have Navigation is whenever you start the vehicle up, if there is a Warning "Do not operate Navigation while Driving".....then yes you have Navigation. And should have a MAP button. Press that or DEST to enter in your destination.

From the sound of things, i really doubt you have the Navigation but rather just the standard 7" screen that displays Navigation. If you figure you really have the Navi, type another question and ill go further with this.|||It's not a touch scree. Hit the "DEST" button (destinantion). Then select the Address Book and type in state and the street address. It won't let you do it when the car is moving. Establish your home address in the menu as well - very handy late at night!

Bear in mind, NAV systems in 2004 weren't what they are now, but they usually work well.|||There should be a button just above the radio console that says MAP on it. When you see the "agree or disagree" question come across the screen, push the enter button in on the toggle switch. If you don't see a MAP button on the top part of the radio, by the screen area, then you DO NOT have Nav. on that Murano.

Are the differences between the Nissan Altima and Nissan Altima Hybrid worth the cost difference?

I am committed to purchasing a Nissan Altima. I really like this car and was excited to read about tax credits that may be available for purchasing a hybrid car, but I am still not convinced that the hybrid is a "better" car than a standard Altima. The cost differences that I've seen are in the $7k range. I am leaning towards 2009 models, but am willing to consider 2008 and 2010 models as well.|||well i think getting a hybrid is a waste of time, and money. its 7000 more then the regular one, but you get 2000 back from the government. the Altima gets GREAT mpg's. i know, since im renting one. i had a charger on Monday and went through a quarter tank in ONE day. i went through a quarter and a half in the Altima from Tuesday until Friday. so if you must spend the 7000, why not just get a fully loaded Altima (:|||Make sure the tax credits are available on used car. Where can I go to find a painted nissan mirror?

I need to replace a 2005 nissan altima 2.5 drivers side mirror, the whole assembly. Is there any trustworthy sites I can go to for this type of mirror and have it painted at the same place then shipped to me for one price?|||Wouldn't it just be easier to carry it into a local autobody / paint shop???|||Most mirrors come black. If your mirror is a different color than it needs to be painted. You might be able to find a mirror in a junk yard that is already painted but that is rare.

I would buy the mirror and then take it to an automotive paint store to have the paint matched. Ask the person at the store if he knows anyone who could paint it in their spare time. Lots of people that work at paint stores do some paint work on the side. You could probably get it painted much cheaper than if you took it to a bodyshop.|||See up an eBay search for the mirror in the color you want. I found a pair for my Accord already color matched - luckily because my daughter broke the other one within a day of replacing the drivers side mirror. It may take a little bit but eventually one will show up. THe other option is car-parts.com. It is a junkyard search engine for finding vehicles with what you need.|||Many items are already painted that you can get from the dealer. I will not imply that this would be cheap but it may very well be the "easiest way " to solve the problem.

What amount should I expect from Carmax to sell my 2007 Nissan Sentra?

I want to sell my 2007 Nissan Sentra and get a cheaper car that I can pay off in a year, because I will become a full time student. Says your car is worth 10,025-12,000 on trade in.

That was using 12000 miles and excellent condition.|||Go to kbb, expect to get the 'fair' value, even though it's a '07. Shop around at other dealerships- esp. at a Nissan dealership. They're going to get quotes from several places: kbb, black book, and how much taht used car manager wants it on his/her lot. Does Nissan Extended Warranty cover a catalytic converter if the warranty excluded exhaust systems ?

I have an Extended Warranty from Nissan (100K miles "bumper to bumper"). It says that it covers everything unless the part/system is listed under the "What is Excluded" section.

I have been told that I need a new catalytic converter. That part is not specifically excluded from extended warranty coverage, but the exhaust system is.

So my question is, does the exclusion of the exhaust system mean that the converter is also excluded ?|||dint think so

the catalytic converter is an emissions part,

the exhaust is an outlet for the fumes to go to....

they are two totally different parts

talk to your dealer, also depends on the mileage of the car

it shouldn't go out within at least 3-4 years.... if that

i had the same one on for at least 4 years before mine went bad

but there should be a number on the warranty information, call that number|||The catalytic converter is part of the exhaust system so it would actually be specifically excluded. What kind of "bumper to bumper" warranty excludes exhaust? As you're figuring out, there are some costly parts down there.

Anyway, here's the catch. Catalytic converters are required by law (in the USA) to be covered by the original vehicle manufacturer for 8 years or 80,000 miles. So, if you fall in that category it's covered by your regular Nissan warranty--head to the dealer.

Kyle must have his part names confused, the "cat" most certainly is part of the exhaust system--everything from the headers to the muffler tip is the "exhaust system."|||Yes.

Would it be safe to drive a nissan versa in the mountains?

This Thursday I will be making a day trip from Murfreesboro to Chattanooga and will be renting a car.

I would like to get one nice and easy on gas and was thinking of renting a Nissan Versa, I need to know if it would be a good and safe care to take, any advise or suggestions? Please and thanks :)|||Driving from M'boro to Chattanooga is hardly driving "in the mountains". It is interstate all the way. Rent the Versa and use the trip as a long test drive.

EDIT -- The climb to Lookout Mountain isn't that bad, just slow and narrow.|||I'm curious as to why you would even ask such a question. Why would it NOT be safe?|||Drive carefully and enjoy your trip.|||Going over Mont Eagle isn't much of a climb and that's the only real hill you have. The Versa has a small engine, but that isn't much work for any car. Just don't try to drive it too fast. You'll know what the car likes for cruising speed by the way it feels within a few miles on the interstate. I see them cruising at 65-70 all of the time on the interstates in REAL mountains.

I noticed you added Lookout Mountain and Rock City. Those are easy tourist roads that bicycles climb. My 18 wheeler can (and has) climbed those hills many times.

When I lock the hubs in my Nissan navara each month, should I also drive in 4H?

I've just bought a 2004 nissan navara and the owners manual advises running with the front hubs locked for at least 16kms each month in order to keep the axles lubricated (or something). Should I also put it in 4wd? 4H?|||4 wheel drive engaged would not hurt to lubricate parts of the transfer case but do so on loose road surfaces. Or a little off roading once in a while.

Are Nissan Pathfinders made from 1990 to present have good gas mileage and are they reliable on highways?

I thinking of buying a nissan pathfinder but i have to know if this car is good for my budget.|||I had a 2003 PF, and it was NOT good! Gas mileage was horrible. I drove mostly on the highways and averaged only around 18 mpg. The engine also used about a quart of oil per 1000 miles. The dealer had it 4 times and could not figure out where the oil was going - there were no leaks and no blue smoke from the tailpipe - quite a mystery! I put 5 oxygen sensors in it (probably due to the oil issue) over 2 years. I ended up getting rid of it.

I know a lot of people are happy with theirs, and the 3.5 V6 is supposed to be a good engine, but I sure got a lemon!

Hope that helps!|||the gas mileage is similar to any truck based vehicle. overall reliability pretty good, depending on mileage and how it was cared for. the best thing to do is have a mechanic inspect one before you buy it. then you can get an idea what kinds of costs you are looking at for repairs and maintenance.|||I've got a 1993 Pathfinder 4door with the 3.5L v6 engine and an auto tranny. I get about 17mpg in the city and between 20mpg and 25mpg on the highway. in 4 wheel drive in snow or on dirt roads I get around 12mpg

if the car was well maintained you could pick one up and have it last a long time, mine has about 280k miles on it and still going strong.

if it wasn't well mainted the car can suck a whole lot of money really, really fast.

If you do buy it Change the Oil every 5k miles. Use a top dollar synthetic oil, it makes the difference of about 6mpg if i use cheap or mid-grade stuff in mine or if i try to squeeze to 10k between changes.

Best of luck.|||I own a 2008 with the 4.0L V6. 266HP engine and is rated at 20MPG highway. I drive in stop and go traffic and get 17.5MPG. I also use the recommended 93 octane. Using cheaper gas is OK but the trade off will be MPG and power.

|||Nissan Pathfinders were originally based on the Nissan Pickup Truck Chassis and running gear, about as reliable as one can get.

Do Nissan Muranos really have an extra "blindspot" because of the design of the car?

I'm going to be purchasing a new car soon and I really like the Nissan Murano. Someone told me that people who have these SUV's complain of not being able to see out of a blind spot in the back/side. I guess this is supposedly due to the design of the back of the SUV. Anyway, I am planning on test driving one, but I was wondering what everyone thought about this

"rumor". Thanks!|||I bring your attention to the following link:

http://www.epinions.com/content_39569532鈥?/a>

Notice the following portion of the article written by the test driver:

"However, I simply cannot recommend this car because of the blind spot. I drove it for a week in a variety of conditions: intown, interstate, state highways, residential areas, and had daily "near misses" because of the blind spots at the rear on both sides. I had to pay very keen attention, and even then still had near misses. Between the design of the window pillars and the mirror locations, other cars could get near and I simply could not see them. Because of the poor visibility from inside, I had to drive by mirrors alone when backing up and performing similar maneuvers. A small convex mirror on the left and right mirrors would likely have helped tremendously, but I feel a new car shouldn't have such a flaw. The only vehicles I've ever driven that had such profound blind spots were service vans and large work trucks."

Best wishes!|||You're welcome.

How much better gas mileage does the Nissan Xterra 4x4 get than the Chevy Tahoe 4x4?

I am thinking of down grading to a Nissan Xterra 4x4 from my Chevy Tahoe 4x4. I am wondering how much better gas mileage the Xterra will get compared to the Tahoe? Any help would be great! Thanks!|||17 to 21 highway and much less around town 13 to 15 mpg so your really not saving very much fuel Boxy trucks just dont flow thru the air very well. Added weight of 4x4 and there you have it. You did not state if it was a 3.3 Liter 169hp. Engine or a 2005 and newer 4.0 liter motor 265hp the new motor is more powerful and just about the same MPG. By the way 2005 and newer Xterria's earned Motor Trend 4X4 of the year 2005 and 2006 they are real mountain goats. Only a bit thirsty.|||it depends on the year, the new chevy 327(5.3l) gets about 22 mpg and with a few mods (exhaust including headers, and an intake) can get 25 mpg. The new nissans typically don't get much beter than 13-14 mpg highway|||If you are talking about the Tahoe Hybrid that the Japanese bunch do not offer...NONE and made in America.

Are Nissan dealers allowed to service the Altima Hybrid in states in which it's not sold?

I live in Michigan and am seriously considering the Altima Hybrid (not sold in this state). Would a Michigan dealership be allowed to service the car? Or is Nissan putting a moratorium on Altima Hybrid work outside of the "8 states"?

Thanks!|||Technically, they can, but you'll be jumping through a lot of hoops to make it happen. The problem is that any technician that works on the car has to be tested and certified to work specifically on the hybrid model. If a dealership is in a state that doesn't sell the car, it usually isn't worth the money for them to certify all their technicians. That means Nissan may end up having to send qualified personnel maybe from out of state to the dealer to service the car, and you could end up waiting a few days for simple repairs.|||Almost all the Nissan Dealers have sent at least two technicians to Altima Hybrid school. Dual propulsion cars are very complex are you sure you drive only in and around town to take advandage of the fuel milage savings? A freeway driven regular 2.5 liter Altima gets 32 Miles a gallon. Unless you can get tax benefits (only for new car purchase) I would expect you would have to own a Hybrid for 10 years to get a return on your purchase price. 2010 / 2011 Nissan Leif is due out soon total electric may be the way to go if you drive around 90 miles a day.

Are Nissan Pathfinder good suv? If you was an electrician would you use as a work truck and family vehicle?

Also would be other good SUV to use as a work and family vehicle if you don't think Nissan Pathfinder's are good SUV for a work suv and family vehicle?|||You really need two vehicles for that. One for work and one for family. If one breaks down you can temporarily do double duty till you get it back up again.|||After 1995 Pathfinders went to unitized body no real frame under it. I would only recommend a 2005 and newer went back to frames. And I do not recommend a work truck family SUV combo. Because of all the weight and tools you carry around will affect the gas mileage and a Dirty work truck from pulling wire all day in a muddy pit at a job site. You need to be able to get to work in a reliable newer truck even a frontier 4 Cly Manual. and Buy a Rogue/ Sentra for the family SUV/car. 8 to 14 year old trucks even long lasting pathfinders may not be dependable enough. I know it is a vicious circle have to go to work to buy a new truck. Have to be there every day too! Darn.|||the Pathfinder is a great vehicle, you could also look at the 4Runner and the Tacoma Crew Cab or the Frontier Crew Cab just add a camper top to it and it would work just the same|||i would look from 1997-2001. i think they were pretty reliable suvs.

Just recently i purchased a black 2006 Nissan 350z. I plan on installing a body kit but have a question on which i should choose. How long does it take to complete a drive cycle on a 1996 Nissan Altima 5-speed?

I have a 1996 Nissan Altima 5-speed that needs an emissions test. Most of the drive cycle is complete and I have a list of the steps to complete the drive cycle.

I was wondering if I had to do each step in one outing or can I do them on different outings or days. Or even perform some of the steps out of order.|||I have seen several early 1996 Altimas/ Sentras that never complete all the checks. Evap will not pass if below 1/4 tank or above 3/4 tank. Some States emissions testing allows the 1996 car to run on the rollers for tail pipe emissions and that may be what you need to do (in Texas). Replacing the Engine Control Module some times fixes the non complete drive Cycle too.

I have a 97 xe Nissan truck that has a 2.4 engine. What other engines are compatible with this truck. I have heard of someone using American engines in this truck . Can this be true? Is there a 6cyl that will work in this truck?|||You can replace the 2.4L KA24E with the 3.0L V6 VG30E engine. Nissan never offered a V6 in their trucks after 1995 but they should still fit right in. You can probably put a small block engine in it since the engine compartment is large enough to accommodate it.one|||The truck you have could have been purchased with a 3.0 L V6 when it was new. Your best bet is to stay with the 2.4 engine and just put some hop-up parts on it. Nismo (Nissan's performance division) used to sell a head for racing that would give this engine about 200 hp. Otherwise changing the engine, wiring harness, upgrading brakes/suspension will cost more than a vehicle is worth. Hope this helps!

Is it possible to swap a 1993 Nissan 300ZX's automatic transmission for a manual transmission?

I found a beautiful 1993 Nissan 300ZX 2+2, but it's an automatic. In fact, I'm not even sure I want a transmission swap. Is there a drastic difference between automatic and manual transmission in these cars? Thanks a lot!|||It is possible but it involves a lot of work.

For the hardware, you need to find not only the transmission, but also the clutch pedal, lines, clutch fluid reservoir, and something you probably don鈥檛 even imagine: a new driveshaft. Why? Because the auto and manual transmission are different at the rear end and each has its own driveshaft. Of course you can always cut the driveshaft front end and replace it with the correct one, but that is only if you are able to find that one part which is not sold alone.

For the software (yes that too), you need to trick the ECU into thinking you are in Park or Neutral in order to be able to turn ON the engine. There is some hard wiring necessary for this or you can replace the ECU all together for a manual transmission ECU.

I helped doing this swap on a 94 Twin Turbo and it was very hard, but the result was very nice and since we did the hard wiring, we left it so you can turn ON the engine without using the clutch.

Just on the side note, the Automatic Transmission for the NA (non turbo model) is very bad and tends to fail after 40 to 50K miles if you don鈥檛 take care of it. The manual is much better and you only have to worry about the clutch on the TT, but for the NA, you should be just fine.

Good luck.|||do you know if i could do that for a 1988 300zx non-turbo?

What can I do with a nissan 240sx rusted frame?

I just bought a nissan 240 sx but it wont pass the inspection cuz the frame is to rusty. There is wholes developing at many places on the frame. I was wondering if there is anything I could do to fix it without spending to much money. Other than the frame the car is pefect I love it but sad that it wont pass the inspection.|||Do not buy a new car or do not sandblast it. You can but small sheets to replace the holes. Put a few sheats on the bad spots on the unibody and then either primer paint or oil something to make the unibody look like it used to. I know thats all your car needs to pass inspection because the rest is good except get a new clutch you need one. But cover those up and paint them and you should be well on your way drifter!|||thats a none logically approach to fixing it.. half ***. IMO

|||I suggest you sand blast it to get the rust off and then put a good coat of primer on it that is a rust preventative.|||Don't just paint over those rust spots/holes, use a torch to cut them out and weld in new sheetmetal, then paint it all a dark color to hide the unconventional yet perfectly safe repair. It's done all the time.

FYI, your 240 has a unibody, not a frame.|||Come down to Texas New Mexico and find one that overheated and ruined a motor. ..why'd you buy one with that much rust, first off?? If it has that much rust then it's not passing inspection for a reason. The only way to repair that is have the rust cut out and new sheet metal welded back in, in it's place. This is pretty expensive b/c a full paint job is a must after all the body work. As stated, find a 240sx frame with minimal rust and swap in/out good stuff into the better body.. only way..

..or just buy another running 240sx/car..

How easy can a 6 cyl nissan engine be put in place of a 4cyl?

Looking at an 89/90 Nissan hardbody pickup 4x4 that has a bad 4 cyl engine. Will a 6 cyl bolt up to the transmission (standard) ? Will all the original mounts work or will there have to be some modifications done?|||May I ask why? The 4 cylinder is a much more reliable engine. With the V6, you'll have a timing belt whereas your 4 cylinder has a chain. Also, the V6 has fuel injector issues. While the V6 is still an overall reliable engine, the 4 cylinder is even more reliable with less things to deal with.|||if you wan a six cylinder you might as well by the truck. the 4 cylinder engine has the best mpg you can ever get for a truck. you can get up to 27 mpg witch still beats todays milage for trucks.

|||Not that easy for one the new one is biger so you have to modify a few things.|||Why bother. It's cheaper and easier to buy a replacement vehicle with the engine you want. It's just a huge headache doing a modern car engine swap.|||Twenty years old isn't it time for a reliable new truck? Besides the expence, V-6 and 4 cyl transmissions are different. Engine wiring harnesses are different too. There are Mexicans who will pay you money and drag that truck to Mexico. And The States that need to eliminate smog pay money to get old klunkers off the road. The new frontier V-6 4.0 liter has 265 hp and gets better gas milage than the 4 banger you have. And there is one big difference when you start the new truck you can drive anywhere knowing you'll be able to drive home.|||No.

You need to replace the transmission and exhaust system to fit the V6 engines different design.

My problem is how do I get to the back of the unit?|||I would go to Best Buy or the dealer and ask them to do it for you that way you won't screw it up.|||I've read somewhere else that you have to take the plate around it off first; it comes out with the air vents, prying it from the bottom, close to the ventilation controls. Once the vents and plate from around the radio is off, then remove four Phillips screws and pull the radio out.

How can I tow my 1993 Nissan Altima out of the tow yard if I'm missing the keys-car too old to obtain keycode?

I lost my keys to the car and the city towed it because it stayed in one spot for too long. I need to get it out of the tow yard to call a locksmith to look at it because the car is too old for the local Nissan dealer to obtain a key-code. Does anyone know how I'd be able to accomplish this?|||1. Have the towing company move it for you, obviously they have it figured out.

2. Rent a car dolly or trailer from U-Haul and move it yourself.

3. Have the locksmith go to the impound yard and make the new key. If it runs, drive it home.|||I don't know if this will work on your particular car and since it will damage the car slightly, you may not want to try it, but I did this on a LeBaron once after seeing it in the "Terminator" films (the following is how the Terminator steals cars). Crack open the steering column cowling and you may be able to simply press down on the button the key touches when you start it.|||as long as the front wheels are off the ground when towing then you're ok, also a dealership can sometimes cut a key according to the vin which you can see in the drivers side lower corner of windshield, or off of your title or registration

Where can i send a 1999 Nissan Altima for servicing?

A friend of mine has just bought a used 1999 Nissan altima with 120,000 miles on it. What kind of servicing needs to be done for this car? What kind of a place would handle that?|||Did it come with reccords, or has it been maintained properly.

It should already of had timming belt, trans flush, and radiator flush. If you can get it on a lift and see how the cv joints and the trans axel boots look(check for holes in the boot)Check the filters and simple things help too. Chances are if it was taken care of it should be in pretty good shape. Hopefully it wasnt a northern vehicle(salt sucks)|||Japan?...lol...=}|||How about the dealership? Ever think of that?

How do you fix a 1991 Nissan Stanza retractable seat belt?

I just recently bought a 1991 Nissan Stanza and the driver side seat belt is broken. There is a wire hanging out from the track that the seat belt runs on and the buckle itself is stuck in place. When I open the door there is a noise that sounds like the seat belt trying to move on the track, but it doesn't move(Probably due to the wire). Is there any place that sells the parts still? Or anyone that would know how to fix it?|||Way back when there was recalls on movable shoulder belts. Now The technician unplugs the motor and locks the seat belt in the rear most posistion. Then cuts away the broken cable part. Obselete now but I bet some dealerships may still have some dusty seat belt recalls still sitting on there shelfs. When the track wears and cable is not retained, your car needs new motor and track assembly with new cable buckle too. The plastic trim above the door almost always crumbles so be careful pulling off parts. Always use the seat belts both of them. So get it fixed either way. Good Luck

How much would it cost to make a transmision fluid change on a nissan altima?

I have a 2005 nissan altima v6.

Its a 5 speed automatic transmission

And I've never done any maintnance to the transmission

About how much will it cost in a nissan dealership

Thanks everyone|||It will vary from 150 to 250 dollars. Depending on where you get it done from and what kind of oil. The dealer will cost you more and they will more than likely put the conventional trans fluid. Your trusted neighborhood mechanic will do the same thing for less. You can always ask the neighborhood mechanic to put synthetic instead and will cost you same as the dealer's conventional fluid. Hope this helps. Thanks.,|||If you want to walk go ahead and do a complete flush. For now just do a drain and refill 4 quarts of Trans fluid. "ASIAN" brand 5 speed transmissions tend to run hot using a clean paper towel wipe the stick and see what color the Bright red fluid has turned to. Brown burnt smelling fluid is not good. 5 speed transmission fluid should have been changed every 30,000 miles. If your having trouble like the trans is not going into high gear or starting out the trans tends to slip hit hard and then go. Be very careful.Good Luck

Why don't new Nissan Pathfinders and Frontiers come with eccentric bolts and washers?

The Nissan dealership says they don't come with eccentric bolts and washers, which according to them is necessary for proper alignment.|||because the vehicle is set to factory specification as the vehicle breaks in your vehicle tends to need adjustments and one of the ways is to align your tires.and to that, they sell kits to allows certain range of adjustments.and to have it properly aligned they are a must to hold your tires to proper specification they hold your tire in or out. which is the camber adjustment of the tire.if the top of your tire leans out you have to much camber if leans in you have to much negetive camber. to much of either will cause tire wear.|||that is correct i have worked in the tire field for 27 yrs and i can tell you not one car or truck comes with them it always is an add on after you take it to a shop or the dealer.

How much does it cost to fill up your Nissan Pathfinder?

So, i'm considering a purchase of a Nissan Pathfinder. But right now I have a lovely little 4 cylinder that costs 16.57 to fill up (at current gas rates $1.99)

What i'd like to know is how much does it cost to fill up a Nissan Pathfinder 2000-2004 model year|||Ok at $2 a gallon a 2000 to 2004 pathfinder has a 20.7 gallon tank SO around 40 dollars with 1 gallon left reserve. Just remember that bigger heavy SUV that is not areodynamic will not get as good fuel economy. But it will be more rugged able to tow a trailer and much more cargo room.|||I have a 92 , and today it cost me $ 37.56 to fill up .|||If I had a 50 gallon tank it would cost same per gallon. what ever gas cost times number of gallons it holds. You must be 16 and do not know multiplication?|||Depends on the size of gas tank it has. And how much gas is when you go to fill it up...

Is It possible to drive a nissan skyline r32 or r34 gtr in california?

im going to japan to buy a nissan skyline r32 or r34 and imported here in the us...is that possible?|||A job for Yourself whom have to do your research for where you live as many will say the Skyline is not street illegal in the US but infact it differs between states, example some states require the car to be made LHD whilst others dont mind, some states require added safety features on older Skyline models. Some states will not allow the Skyline at all,but all states require the car to meet emission regs.

The easiest it bring in is the R33 96-98 models due to added safety features being stock at this point and these where models tested by Motorex as for the Motorex issue they didnt go to jail for selling bad Skyline although the false testing didnt help. But with the right money and mods other Skyline are creeping in and i see som many R34 Skyline on the net in the US nowdays.

So all those that say the Skyline is illegal it is and it isnt again it depends where you live and what puts people off is the cost of mods to make it meet US regs hence putting young buyers off and older buyers usually go for newer models of cars.

A common legal need on the R32 models is a strong bar adding between the rear fuel tank and the rear seats.

Also the Stagea model is a good choice.|||Yeah, as long as it came from Morotorex. They're the only ones who can make the car legal to drive in the US. But considering the price to be $70000, it's kind of steep and insurance companies categorize this car as a "specialty" car, similar to restored American classic cars. It's just too expensive to own for a Japanese import, but you can't stop hardcore enthusiasts from getting one.|||If you bought it from the now dead Skyline importer MotorEx. Then yes, because they would have taken all the necessary steps to get it certified as street legal. Meaning bumper, and crash safety minium standards, emissions, and necessary smog hardware. But MotorEx does not exist anymore. And if you want one that badly, then you will have to file a ton of paperwork, get the car retrofitted to U.S. crash and emissions standards; document every step and then get it inspected. Not to mention the actual cost of shipping one and going through customs and taxes is outrageously high. But it can be done. Just be prepared for a mountain of redtape.

You may be better off finding one the cars the MotorEx actually sold in the U.S. Maybe the owner will want to part with it (yeah right...but hey try)

To go a step further, you can drain the oil out of the engine. Along with all of the other fluids.

Trust me it makes a BIG difference in 0-60 times.|||You are going to need all the fluid in your vehicle. To start, I would tune it up with quality "platinum" spark plugs, replace the air filter with K%26amp;N filter( you can also get the cold air replacement kit), replace the engine oil with synthetic oil (10w-30), install bed cover, have CAT back system with free flow muffler (3/4" pipe all the way to the end of the tail pipe). What is you guys best advices for me?|||http://spkrbox1.spaces.msn.com/Default.a鈥?/a> for real "sound" advice.

Your system won't mean squat without a well designed box to put your subs in. Some manufacturers have recommendations as to dimensions of various types of boxes. It is best to find someone who builds boxes if you go with something other than a sealed box.

You should always match up RMS (Root Mean Square) watts of Subs and amp per channel as well as impedance's(resistances).

If your amp is rated at 4惟 don't subject it to 2惟, it will fry.

Here is the formula for subs in parallel:

Z = 1 / (1/sub1 + 1/sub2 + 1/sub3 + ....)

For series, just add them up (sub1 + sub2 + ...).

You can mix and match these equations to get the right impedance required by your amp.

Example: 4 subs @ 4惟 each. If I connect two in parallel and the other two in parallel and tie the two pairs in series, I would have a total impedance(resistance) of 4惟. So to the amp, it's just one sub.

You should use a capacitor as well.

Recommend for every 500 watts MAX you use a .5 Farad cap

Example: 1000 watts MAX - 1 Farad cap

Try http://www.soundomain.com/shop you can find some really good deals, and this site is manufacturer certified. VERY IMPORTANT WHEN SHOPPING ON-LINE!!!

You will also need what's called a "line level converter" if your stock head unit doesn't have RCA outputs or your amp doesn't have high-level inputs.

If you like I can send you some plans for reference. My plans are for a 4-th order band pass bass box that holds two 12's. Also included are java calculators you can use to figure parallel and series values given 惟 values.

Just e-mail me sparky3489@yahoo.com

My system

Blaupunkt TSw1200 subs with a Sony Xpl艒d XM2200GTX.

My amp is 1200 watts, subs are 600 watts each, cap is 1.2 Farad

SPL is about 112 db

Total cost(so far) = $410|||Anything by Rockford Fosgate ROCKS!!!!|||Get a Jl Audio 12w3, and a 400 watt amp made by a reputable company. For speakers, I would go pioneer or eclipse.

What changes to make a Nissan Skyline R-34 to be legal in the USA?

What changes have to be made to make a Nissan Skyline R-34 to be legal in the USA?

I was just curious, because I am always reading about people having problems with them.

I also know that you can legally import them it just cost money to make the changes, also that you do not have to directly follow state law because federal law overrides any state laws.

Now I just want to know what the changes are.|||the R34s to my knowledge are illegal to import to the USA period

why not get a sexy 1972 Nissan Skyline ( NO SMOG needed)

- I bought mine for 9 grand.

as first poster said you can only get the R33, though I've seen a couple R32's

Its a pain in the *** getting them legalized especially if you live in california

So my guess it would cost you anywhere from 35+ grand

I've seen some for sale on craigslist in states that do not require smog checks just visual

may have better luck on some that are already here|||I am not sure any one actually went to jail. . . Contact the US Customs, EPA Department of Transportation and NITSA. If that does not confuse you? Remember restoring a 15 year old Japan Car that you cannot get parts for might be difficult. Total cost may be as much as a new 370Z before your done.|||Can only import the r33 for conversion.

The feds closed the loophole on the "kit car" way people did it before. Before they collapsed (and went to jail) Motorex crash tested an r33 and hence it is available for conversion.

Can i use the performance parts from the nissan 350z on my 2009 nissan maxima?

There are NO performance parts on the market for the 2009 Nissan Maxima. So, since they both share the exact same engine. Can i use the more common 350Z upgrade parts on the Maxima?|||If the cars really have the same engine, I'd imagine that the Maxima has a detuned version. I'm not positive but I'd be willing to bet that the Z has hotter cams, high compression, and better flowing induction system. Maybe you can can upgrade some of those components but seriously ask yourself, is it worth it?

Why would you buy a brand new front wheel drive Maxima and try to mod it? This car simply isn't designed for performance like the Z is, and chances are you will void your warranty with any performance mods. How much does replacing a Nissan Murano CVT transmission cost?

I would appreciate if the cost of the parts and the average labor cost could be separated. Also a source that could be checked would be appreciated. Separately: Does Nissan offer an extended power train warranty (over the 6/60,000) for a fee? Are the CVT's reliable? Thank You in advanced.|||Better check that warranty again Nissan extended the warranty on CVT transmissions. CVT are just about as reliable as any other automatic trans. Nissan mechanics do replace regular automatics and CVT at about the same rates. Nissan Remanufactured CVT prices vary and what your local dealership charges may be different. So just a guess around $3,700 to $4,000. ( i just put them in not sell them) Good Luck

Strong fence wire like top wire of chain link fence. But not your car antenna it looks funny when you bend the end and is just about 4 or 5 inches to short. Passengers side should you tear the rubber your ear is not right there listening to the wind noise. Coat hanger might not be strong enough to pull back that lock... Good Luck|||Go to the dealership or call. Also any suggestions for other used sedans ranging from 8-12 thousand would be appreciated.|||stay away from 01-02 maxima's. 03 is pretty much the best maxima ever made in my opinion. But it only costs 9.99 and if you are spending a couple thousand on a car its def worth it. You might to get the car checked out by a mechanic for 200 dollars this could save you a lot of money in the future.|||Maxima's are NOTORIOUS for a handful of issues. Ignition coils go out (just replaced all 6 of mine@ 140k $360 + labor. Part was only $66 each.) you'll know when it needs to change because the car will stumble at idle %26amp; go into fail safe (cuts power) mode. Additionally, your check engine light will flash@ 3k rpm's. Ultimately, the cars are excellent- but they have a track record of blowing sensors (MAF) Mass airflow sensor. Right now I need to change my OBD1 sensor on bank 2 ($250 retail) but less than $100 on ebay. Yes, if you go to the dealer or a retail automotive shop (autozone/pepboys) you will pay through the nose!!!! I get my parts off of Ebay. I bought a new MAF for $80 on ebay- go to the dealer same part is $268. I've also heard that the tensioners or rather dampeners wear out before the timing chain needs to be fixed. Chains are rated, by nissan, for up to 250k. Some people have gotten abused maximas %26amp; have had a bad experience with them, but most of us are Maxima drivers for life, they are fun, very quick little cars. Before I got the turbo installed on mine I used to be able to trail most mustangs (No saleens or shelby's, its not that fast!!) by about 1 1/2 - 2 car lengths. With the boost, they're trailing me now! Again, these are not your top end mustangs- for the record. Most of the frequent issues you can live with. You can do ALOT with these cars in terms of cutomization. %26amp; I know several members of Maxima.org that have well over 350k on some older gen maximas. My only issue with the newer maximas is that you can't get a "true" 5 speed anymore. You may also want to consider 01-03 Acura 3.2 TL (my other car) which is also an excellent choice but parts are a b*tch.

Have you ever owned a nissan patrol turbo diesel wagon and have problems?

I cannot find where the speedometer cable or sensor wire connects to the transmission on a 1999 Nissan Sentra. It is a 1.6 litre engine and manual 5 speed trans. I've looked and looked and looked. Please help! There is no cable connection running from the firewall to the trans. Maybe it is some kind of sensor wire? Thanks for your help.

What is the difference between japanese and english brake calipers on NIssan Almera N16?

I need to get a rear brake caliper for a Nissan Almera N16 with 1.5 litres engine. In the shop there is two types, for cars made in england and for cars made in Japan, My car is japanese and the caliper is 300 euros, where the english one is only 175. Is there such a big difference between them?

How do you program the garage door opener in a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?

I don't have the owners manual anymore.

The make is a 2000 nissan pathfinder.

The garage opener is three buttons on the visor.

Thanks a bunch if you can help.|||Most likely way is.... there is a set button on your garage door opener motor (you'll need a ladder)... press it... you have a few seconds to press one of the buttons on your visor (your car may require just one button, not any) You should now be set.|||1. Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons, releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. (Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons.)

2. Position the hand-held transmitter 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink surface (located on your visor), keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.

3. Using both hands, simultaneously press and hold both the desired HomeLink button and hand held transmitter button. DO NOT release until the HomeLink indicator light flashes slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. (The rapid flashing indicates successful training.)

Note: Some garage door openers may require you to replace step 3 with the “cycling” procedure noted in the “View Canadian Instructions” section.

4. Press and hold the trained HomeLink button and observe the indicator light.

•If the indicator light is solid/continuous, training is complete and your device should activate when the HomeLink button is pressed and released.

•If the indicator light blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns a solid/continuous light, proceed with the following training instructions for a rolling code device. A second person may make the following steps quicker and easier. Please use a ladder or other device. Do not stand on your vehicle to perform the next steps.

5. At the garage door opener receiver (motorhead unit) in the garage, locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the unit). If there is difficulty locating the training button, reference the garage door opener’s manual.

6. Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button (the name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer). NOTE: Once the button is pressed, there are 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.

7. Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for two seconds and release. Repeat the “press/hold/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process.

Can a nissan dealership work on a infinit car?

Where i live all we have is a nissan dealership and so i was wondering if nissan will work on infiniti cars|||Toyota is infiniti???? No. Toyota is Lexus. Nissan is infiniti.

Call you Nissan dealer tomorrow and ask them if it's a problem. That way you'll get the correct answer. : )|||Yes because some people trade in or sell their old cars no matter the kind when they buy a new car.|||The Nissan dealership I work for are greddy and hungry we will work on non warranty items on any Inifinity car. But we have yo refer you to the closest dealer when we find a recall or some waranty issue. Call Nissan shops or drive in and ask. Some dealers think parts is an issue and are narrow minded. I have found like model 1/30, G/35 2dr and G/35 four door just about the same. But when you need a transmission sensor for Q/45 or FX there are major differences. Any Nissan product after 1994 Nissan Dealers have service manuals on the computer like the one I'm typing on right now.|||yup.|||YES THEY SHOULD, JUST A DIFFERENT EMBLEM AND SOME OPTIONS U CANT GET ON A NISSAN,|||Mine does.|||Yes. They are the same brand.|||Well not knowing where you live and the dealer you live by, I would say you should call and ask them?|||All you have to do is look at the name of the car. Next look for the dealership that has the same name. Finally when you see the name that match your car that is your answer. Unless you bought an used infinti from nissan that has an warranty then if it breaks down while on warranty nissan have to fix it.Even still nissan may take it to the infinti dealership to fix it. Mainly the techinicians at nissan are trained to work on nissan and the techinicians at infinti are trained to work on infinti. Both cars have the same engine parts but different body shapes.|||For some things they probably will. The VQ engine is in many Nissans and Infinitis, but they're tuned different and the electronics are different. For most service you'll be okay and they can order the parts if they're good on customer svc|||Sure.|||nope, it don't work that way|||Yes. They use pretty much the same parts - Infinity is just an upscale brand of Nissan's.|||of course nissan makes infiniti so it should be able to fix it.|||No, but Toyota will. Toyota ~= Infinity.|||yes and no, it depends if you have warranty issue, a Nissan dealer cannot work on your car . But for the most part, if you own an I30, I35, QX4, G20, G35 coupe/sedan, FX35, FX56, the engine parts between these of Infiniti and Nissan will work, exceptions are O2 sensors, mass air flow sensor.|||Of course, Nissan makes Infiniti...... No problem.|||Call and ask them.|||Hey guy there should be no problem its the same family of cars..|||yes only pre-own
